Dad's heart bypass surgery went well...
Thank you to all who have kept my dad in your thoughts and prayers. His quadruple heart bypass surgery went as well as could be expected, and he was moved from the cardiac intensive care unit to a regular room, yesterday.
My husband Cam and I visited with Dad for over an hour on Sunday, and his spirits were pretty good considering all he has gone through in the past four days! Always such a robust man, it was quite a shock to see my father looking so pale and weak immediately after he came out of surgery. It was nice to see him with some color, sitting up and able to chat for a wee bit and have a few good laughs with Cam, just three days post-op.
Since his health did not permit him to make the four hour trip for his great-granddaughter Maddie's baptism, Dad enjoyed viewing the pictures I shared with him from last Sunday's special day and is more anxious than ever to get out of the hospital to see her again. (More on Maddie, below)
The staff at Oregon Health Sciences University and the Veterans Hospital have been wonderful. Dad is not one who takes well to visits to the hospital, but his stay has been made more tolerable by the great doctors and nurses who have been so fantastic in caring for him. They all have the same goal, for Dad to get out of the hospital as soon as he is safely able.
I hope to be able to post soon Dad's release from the hospital, and thank all of you again for your thoughts and prayers for his successful recovery:-)
