Mrs. Oregon America Pageant Fun

As a former Mrs. Oregon America (1988-yikes that was a lifetime ago!), it is always fun to return to the pageant and see the crowning of the next lucky lady.  Last night it was Mrs. West Linn, Joy Huston who got the shock of her life as her name was called as Mrs. Oregon 2010.

The evening began with a truly impressive ac-cappella rendition of our national anthem by outgoing 2009 queen Joelle Rankin-Goodwin.  Then the competition phase of the pageant began (that's Joelle backstage ready to rock the house!).

As the judges decision was tallied, Joelle's husband Bob offered some humorous advice for the future "Mr. Oregon" then spoke of his wonderful wife.  Joelle shared her thoughts on her year as it was time to say goodbye, then the judges decision was read. The new Mrs. Oregon 2010 is..., Joy Huston!

With her one year old son cheering mommy on, Joy's little guy, football firmly in hand, stayed awake the entire time and was a trooper.  He was even ready to get in the pictures afterward as you can see!

Former Mrs. Oregons greeted their new sister queen to the fold after the pageant.  Joy got a taste of what the year ahead will be like as she posed for tons of pictures with family, friends, and fans.

One of the special treats of the night went to Mrs. Medford, Deanna Bebeau.  To the complete surprise of Deanna her dear friend Kathy Lauer (a wonderful lady well known and adored in pageant circles) made the trip in secret from Arizona to support her pageant sister.  After the event Deanna, Kathy (whom I was thrilled to meet in person-photo coming soon I promise!) and I headed to one of our favorite Italian restaurants for some well deserved pasta.

Thank you Mrs. Oregon director Libby Crawford for a wonderful event.  Joy is cetainly in for the year of a lifetime!
